The Cormos
Perry and Prince came came to Wether'sfield in July of 2016. They are twin lambs we purchased from Kristin Knits Farm in Breezy Point, Minnesota. Perry was named because, well why wouldn't you name a Cormo Perry, and Prince got his name as he was born the week the brilliant musician died and also because he ripped out his ear tag within a week of arrival at the farm.
Cormos were developed in Tasmania, Australia. It is the result of a cross of Corriedale rams to Merino ewes. Cormo wool has well-defined crimp, which gives it excellent elasticity. It is next to the skin soft and needs a delicate hand when processing or it will tangle and nep, causing bumps in the finished product.
Both Perry and Prince have an average of 4 to 5 inch staple length and their fleece average between 8 and 9 pounds each, in the grease.
