There is a new vendor at Anoka Fiber Works, Wether'sfield Wool Farm.  I purchased some of the Shetland wool.  Two 4-ounce bags of Emily's white washed wool, and one 3.1-ounce ball of Treble's moorit roving.  I had some black Shetland roving I bought when we visited the Faribault Woolen Mill's 150th celebration a few years ago.  I combed the white wool and it is just beautiful to spindle spin with my Moosie spindle.  Mary held a second bag for me when Jim and I were camping last week.  I will have to see how much yardage I can spin and figure out a nice project for the yarn.

The Berryhill Farm

I finished the poncho I was making. It is a combination of handspun colorways from the handfuls of samples you gave me at your shearing and the Finn (Wether'sfield Finnley) fleece I purchased and had blended with Freya, a special to us, English Leister longwool. I used the white Leister/Finn combination as a solid ply throughout. The Old Creamery Woolen mill did the blending into roving and the handfuls were hand carded. I think you gave me handfuls of about all the different kinds of sheep that you had at that time. I use them all!

I used the virus crochet stitch and the photo does not do this garment justice! It is long and slightly past my knees. I’m not sure I will ever wear it because I don’t want it to get ruined! Ha I’m usually not that way about things. My conclusion was that I really enjoyed spinning the Finn/Leicester combination and I love all the natural colorways  that came together in such a lovely way all on their own.  - Trudy Delich - January 16, 2020

Wether'sfield Wool Farm

I'm technically not a customer, but I do use my own wool for various projects.  I recently took a Saori Weaving class through the Minnesota Weavers Guild, that was taught by Chiaki O'Brien.  It was an amazing experience and as Chiaki said "We all made a nice community!"  I would recommend this class for anyone as a way to be creative in the moment!  Chiaki teaches the class frequently at the Weavers Guild as well as Studio Fun!
This is "My Sheep" and contains the fleece of Dave, Carlos, Elsa, and Finnley, along with bits and bobs of various other materials and sparkle.  It was designed with no thought in mind and in the moment.   - Julie - March 12, 2020
