The Shetlands
In October of 2016 we brought home Emily, a Shetland ewe we adopted from Green Tara farm. Emily was our first ewe. The night we brought her home she got loose and we chased her around our farm, in the dark, for a good 45 minutes. I'm not sure if she just gave up or we just got lucky but she finally found her way back to the barn.
Emily roos her fleece, which means that instead of shearing, we pluck her fleece off of her. We are pretty sure it's not her idea of fun! Emily's fleece weighs in between 3 - 4 pounds in the grease.
In July of 2018 we purchased Dolly from Windland Flats in Princeton, Minnesota. Dolly is musket in color. We are hoping that she will also roo her fleece. She's a feisty little girl!
